Crest Coast University was founded in the year 1623 (the current year being 2077) by the headmaster known as Elvin Dunomis. The Univeristy is located on a large remote island off the coast of Florida and is protected by magical wards that cloak the island from anyone who is not attending the school. The island holds a major town and Crest Coast University Campus. Elvin Dunomis is a powerful Magi who is actually one of the only Magi's to have been able to master the art of immortality which is why he has been able to live so long. His vision for Crest Coast was to craft perfect Magis. Students that were willing to do whatever it took to graduate, undergoing multiple trials, proving their worth, and knocking down obstacles as they came. However around 1742 a crisis known as the "Seer Epidemic" nearly destroyed all of Crest Coast and everything it stood for. Seers are Magi's gone rogue and apparently at the time Headmaster Dunomis's teachings were a little stricter than need be. Some graduates took the knowledge they learned from Crest Coast and abused it by creating their own hole-in-the-wall school recruiting people they believe to possess magical abilities and even students directly from Hedge coast; forming a small army in a way, and of course once the army was strong enough they bum-rushed the gates of Crest Coast and tried to take it over. The war itself lasted about a week. Many lives were lost, many were injured, but neither side gave up. Headmaster Dunomis and his late assistant Vermillia Emmerson along with many Crest Coast students did all they could to hold off the Seers.
Vermillia as you might have guessed was killed in battle, but not from a seer. She performed a type of forbidden black magic passed to down to her straight from the god Obitus; the god of death. The spell she casts would take her life away instantly but remove all traces of magic from every Seer attacking Crest Coast. Once the seers lost their power they were immediately subdued by Dunomis and sent to the islands prison where they would live the rest of their days in cold solitude. If it was not for Assistant Emmerson's help the University itself would not even exist to this day. The Crest Coast Garden was built to honor those who lost their lives during the war but also to owner Vermillia Emmerson. In the present day Headmaster Dunomis toned down his teachings a bit, being less strict, more open minded, and giving students the freedom to be who they really want to be. In a way it was Vermillia's final wish; Crest Coast will forever stand!
Crest Coast today is trying to create the perfect future today, students of all kinds, all backgrounds are recruited from all corners of the earth. They all receive letters that request their signature right off the bat the letter looks something like:
"Hello, If you are receiving this letter it means we have taken a special interest in who you are as person and would like for you to join us here at Crest Coast University. Shall you accept you will be transported here instantaneously with information provided to your parent or guardian in regards to your disappearance assuring them you are alright and have been accepted to the College or program of your dreams...since magic itself still doesn't "exist" to the close minded people of the world, but they will learn in due time. If you decline the offer, your memory of this letter will be erased and the letter itself will turn to ash, you have all the time in the world to make up your mind, just don't keep us waiting to long. We'd love to hear your answer.
Best Regards,
Elvin T. Dunomis"
